Predatory Business Practices, Warranty Manipulation, and ExploitationDo not buy or service a vehicle at Tasca Ford in Cranston. I have submitted formal complaints to the FTC, CFPB, the RI Attorney General, and the RI DMV Dealers' License Board detailing what I believe to be predatory, deceptive business practices and warranty manipulation under R.I. Gen. Laws § 31-5-11.On October 7, 2021, I bought a 2016 Jeep Renegade with a $5,000 cash down payment. The very next day, the car suffered severe engine hesitation and violent jerking. Tasca Cranston "fixed" it three times, only for it to repeatedly break down. When it broke down a fourth time, Service Manager Steve D’Elena claimed they couldn't fix it because they weren't a certified Jeep dealer and lacked the tools. I believe they deliberately stalled to run out my dealer warranty.Once the dealer warranty expired, they sent it to Tasca Jeep, diagnosed a blown transmission, and forced a $5,000 repair claim onto my personal extended warranty—draining my policy to pay their own shop. After keeping the car from June 22 to August 4, 2022, they installed a used transmission and refused to waive the deductible. When the dangerous jerking continued, service manager Jose dismissed the safety hazard as "perfectly normal."Stranded with a dangerous car they refused to properly fix, their sales team pressured me into trading it in, rolling thousands of dollars of negative equity into a new loan for a Kia Forte. They drained my warranty value, wiped out my equity, and trapped me in predatory debt. As a disabled, minority customer, I was completely exploited by their finance and service departments. I am fighting for an administrative investigation into their dealer license and a return of my $5,000 down payment. Avoid Steve D'Elena and the entire Tasca Cranston team.

Jonathan previously helped me after I mistakenly took it to a random mechanic who was not equipped to do the work but still tried to. It was a very stressful time trying to get it fixed and Jonathan was extremely helpful from the beginning. He is great at listening to my questions and concerns. I recently brought it back for an oil change and was glad to see Jonathan again so I could leave him a review. He also meets you where you are at which is refreshing. Customer service that I haven't experienced since moving from Georgia.

I took my Explorer in for Recall work, and had them do some other work too while it was in the shop. They did the. “Other” work just fine, but then they just sat there with my car for several days waiting for the recall part to come in. Meanwhile, I need the car. They should have obtained the part first, then called me to schedule the entire service.
